[ Steve could maybe chalk up Eddie's strange behavior to just Eddie being Eddie. He has no reason to believe there's anything out of the ordinary going on there. And it's to Eddie's advantage that he just assumes Eddie is that pale because unlike Steve he doesn't go out in the sun and get tan.
